Our Health and Wellbeing Events
We want families to know our Health and Wellbeing Events have a wide range of services are available, including:
Child immunisation support
Plunket services
Before School Checks- ear and vision checks
Health advice, including toilet training tips, feeding, sleeping habits advice
Support for asthma and eczema, childhood ailments
Child Dental care support/referral
Healthy homes advice
These services are designed to make it easier for families to access the help they need in one place.
Our favourite thing about these events:
Our favourite part about these events is seeing families actively engaging with the health teams and knowing they are receiving the support they need for their tamariki and whānau. For many, it’s their first time connecting with health services, and having our Piri’anga Alofa Communiity Services Team and our Whanau Manaaki teaching staff there to support them makes the experience feel safe, comfortable, and welcoming.
In the future of our events we hope for:
We hope to see even stronger collaboration between Te Whatu Ora and Tū Ora in future events. Thanks to the ongoing support from Piri’anga Alofa Family Community Services, Whanau Manaaki Teaching Staff our kindergartens can continue to provide a safe and supportive environment where families feel empowered and cared for.
Previous Successful Health Event
Piri'anga Alofa Pacific and Community Services held our second Health and Wellbeing event in Whanganui late April! This time over in the east at Whanganui East School, which was a great success.
A huge thank you to the Totara Puku Kindergarten teaching and support staff, including our wider Whanganui Whānau Manaaki staff for all their support and for making sure their families came along and were supported by the Health teams.
Another great event promoting health services and general health advice for our tamariki and their whānau in the communities we serve, just before the winter cold hits.
Huge thanks to all the services that were involved. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Upcoming Health Event
Piri’anga Alofa Pacific and Community Services in collaboration with Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora and multiple Public Health Organisations, will be hosting another Health and Wellbeing evening! This time we are in Horowhenua (aka Levin).
This will be supported by staff from Arohanui Kindergarten. Thank you to He Whare Manaaki Tangata, Teen Parent Unit, for allowing us to use their space too!
